Information for Potential Directors
Is this a paid position?
No, the Board are all volunteers – we do enjoy a Christmas Meal each year in place of the December meeting.
How much time is involved?
The Board meets on the third Monday of each month from 7-9pm.
Occasionally there are sub-committee meetings to discuss a particular issue.
Will I receive training and support?
- Training about Co-operatives and the Role of Director is provided by Co-ops UK.
They offer a range of courses and seminars designed to help you in the role of Director. - We also try and arrange a Director’s Training Day at the Co-op each year.
- We will provide you with Co-ops UK’s publication – The Essential Society Director.
- The Society’s Secretary is also available to provide you with information, support, and advice on all governance matters.
What qualifications do I need?
No formal qualifications are required.
What will I gain from becoming a Director?
